Description
Dempster Head Rock is named after the Dempster family whom as the early settlers held grazing land in the district. Its also known as Loaf Rock by some locals as a title referring to its description of a loaf of bread.
It's easy to consider the rock formation as the feature point of West Beach. Looking east at the rock is almost instinctual when doing the tourist loop drive. Its catches your sight in its dominating formations of caves, shadows and interesting colours patterns of the granite from different reds, grays and oranges on display.
The clouds almost look to be like floss floating in the sky. A wave smashing into the rock looks insignificant from the height this photo was captured but draws your thoughts into a perspective of the scale of size that Dempster head rock and its headland is to the seascape.
